Introduction
Lawn mowers are essential tools for maintaining a beautiful and healthy lawn. However, to get the most out of your lawn mower, it’s important to operate it correctly. Here are some useful operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Inspect the Mower: Before starting, check for any loose parts, damage, or debris in the mower. Make sure the blades are sharp. Dull blades can tear the grass instead of cutting it cleanly, which can lead to a less healthy lawn.
Check the Fuel and Oil: Ensure there is enough fuel in the tank. Also, check the oil level as per the manufacturer’s instructions. Low oil can cause engine damage.
Operating the Mower
Choose the Right Height: Adjust the cutting height according to the type of grass and the season. Generally, taller grass is better for a healthy lawn as it shades the soil, reducing water evaporation and weed growth.
Mow in Different Directions: Don’t always mow in the same direction. Changing the mowing pattern helps the grass grow upright and gives a more even cut.
Post – operation Maintenance
Clean the Mower: After mowing, clean the underside of the mower deck to remove grass clippings and dirt. This prevents corrosion and keeps the mower running smoothly.
Store Properly: Store the mower in a dry and protected place. If it’s going to be stored for a long time, drain the fuel to prevent fuel system problems.
