Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their reliability and cost – effectiveness. Here are some essential operating tips to ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower.
Pre – operation Checks
Inspect the Lawn
Before starting the mower, walk around the lawn to pick up any debris like stones, toys, or sticks. These objects can damage the mower blades and even be ejected, posing a safety risk.
Check the Oil and Fuel
Ensure there is enough oil in the engine. Refer to the user manual for the correct oil type and level. Also, fill the fuel tank with the appropriate fuel. For most Chinese – made lawn mowers, regular unleaded gasoline is sufficient.
Examine the Blades
Check the mower blades for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade will give a cleaner cut and reduce stress on the engine. If the blades are dull, sharpen or replace them as needed.
Operating the Lawn Mower
Starting the Mower
Follow the starting instructions in the user manual. Usually, it involves setting the choke, priming the engine (if required), and pulling the starter cord firmly and smoothly. Once the engine starts, let it warm up for a few minutes.
Mowing Patterns
Change your mowing pattern regularly. This helps prevent the grass from leaning in one direction and promotes more even growth. You can alternate between mowing in straight lines, diagonally, or in a circular pattern.
Cutting Height
Adjust the cutting height according to the type of grass and the season. In general, don’t cut more than one – third of the grass blade length at a time. A proper cutting height keeps the grass healthy and reduces the risk of scalping.
Post – operation Care
Clean the Mower
After mowing, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Then, use a brush or compressed air to remove grass clippings and dirt from the mower deck, blades, and air filter. This helps maintain the mower’s performance and longevity.
Store Properly
Store the lawn mower in a dry and secure place. If you won’t be using it for an extended period, drain the fuel and oil to prevent corrosion and damage to the engine components.
