Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers are known for their high – quality and cost – effectiveness. To ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Fuel and Oil
Before starting the lawn mower, check the fuel level. Use clean, fresh fuel. Also, check the oil level as recommended in the user manual. Insufficient oil can damage the engine.
Blades
Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage. Dull blades can tear the grass instead of cutting it cleanly, leading to a less healthy lawn. Replace or sharpen the blades if necessary.
Deck and Wheels
Make sure the lawn mower deck is clean and free of debris. Check the wheels for proper inflation and smooth rotation. This helps in easy maneuverability.
Operation
Starting the Mower
Follow the starting procedure in the user manual. Usually, it involves priming the engine, setting the choke, and pulling the starter cord. Be gentle when pulling the cord to avoid damage.
Mowing Pattern
Change your mowing pattern each time you mow. This prevents the grass from leaning in one direction and promotes more even growth. For example, alternate between mowing in horizontal and vertical lines.
Cutting Height
Adjust the cutting height according to the type of grass and the season. In general, don’t cut more than one – third of the grass blade length at a time. This keeps the grass healthy.
Post – operation Maintenance
Cleaning
After mowing, clean the lawn mower. Remove grass clippings from the deck, blades, and wheels. This prevents rust and extends the mower’s lifespan.
Storage
Store the lawn mower in a dry place. If it’s going to be stored for an extended period, drain the fuel and run the engine until it stops to prevent fuel system issues.
