Introduction
Chinese-made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their quality, durability, and affordability. To make the most of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Fuel and Oil
Before starting your lawn mower, check the fuel level. Use clean, fresh gasoline for optimal performance. Also, check the oil level and top it up if necessary. Different models may have different oil requirements, so refer to the user manual.
Blade Inspection
Inspect the cutting blade for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade cuts grass cleanly, reducing stress on the mower’s engine. If the blade is dull, sharpen or replace it.
Deck and Wheels
Check the mower deck for any debris or blockages. Make sure the wheels are properly inflated and turning freely. This ensures smooth movement and even cutting.
Operation
Starting the Mower
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for starting the mower. For most gasoline – powered mowers, set the choke, prime the engine if required, and pull the starter cord firmly. Electric mowers usually just need to be plugged in and switched on.
Mowing Patterns
Vary your mowing patterns each time you cut the grass. This prevents the grass from leaning in one direction and promotes more even growth. You can mow in straight lines, criss – cross patterns, or circular patterns.
Cutting Height
Adjust the cutting height according to the type of grass and the season. Generally, it’s better not to cut more than one – third of the grass blade at a time. In summer, keep the grass a bit longer to help it retain moisture.
Post – operation Maintenance
Cleaning
After mowing, turn off the mower and let it cool down. Then, clean the mower deck, blade, and wheels. Remove any grass clippings and debris to prevent corrosion and ensure proper operation next time.
Storage
If you’re not going to use the mower for an extended period, store it in a dry place. For gasoline – powered mowers, drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
