Introduction
Chinese-made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their quality and affordability. Here are some essential operating tips to help you get the most out of your lawn mower.
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting your lawn mower, conduct a thorough inspection. Check the oil level. If it’s low, add the appropriate type of oil as recommended in the user manual. Also, examine the air filter. A dirty air filter can reduce engine performance. Replace or clean it if necessary.
Starting the Lawn Mower
Follow the correct starting procedure. For most Chinese – made lawn mowers, set the choke according to the engine’s temperature. In cold starts, set the choke to the ‘closed’ position, and once the engine warms up, open it. Pull the starter cord smoothly and steadily to start the engine.
Mowing Techniques
When mowing, adjust the cutting height based on the grass type and its growth rate. Don’t cut more than one – third of the grass blade at a time. This helps maintain the health of the grass. Mow in straight lines for a neat appearance, and overlap slightly to ensure all areas are covered.
Maintenance During Operation
Keep an eye on the grass discharge. If it becomes clogged, stop the engine immediately and clear the blockage. Also, listen to the engine sound. Any unusual noises could indicate a problem.
Post – operation Care
After mowing, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Empty the grass catcher if your lawn mower has one. Clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can cause corrosion over time. Store the lawn mower in a dry place.
