Introduction
Chinese-made lawn mowers are known for their quality and affordability. To ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting your lawn mower, conduct a thorough inspection. Check the oil level. If it’s low, add the appropriate type of oil recommended in the user manual. Also, examine the spark plug. A dirty or worn – out spark plug can cause starting problems. Replace it if necessary. Additionally, check the blade for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade will cut the grass cleanly and efficiently.
Starting the Lawn Mower
Follow the correct starting procedure. For most Chinese – made lawn mowers, set the choke according to the engine’s temperature. On a cold start, set the choke to the ‘closed’ position. After the engine starts, gradually open the choke. Pull the starter cord firmly and smoothly. Avoid yanking it, as this can damage the starter mechanism.
During Operation
When mowing, walk at a steady pace. Pushing the lawn mower too fast can result in uneven cuts. Keep an eye on the grass height. Don’t cut more than one – third of the grass blade at a time. This helps maintain the health of the grass. Also, be aware of your surroundings. Watch out for rocks, toys, or other objects that could damage the mower or be thrown by the blade.
Post – operation Care
After mowing, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Empty the grass catcher if your lawn mower has one. Clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can affect the mower’s performance. Store the lawn mower in a dry place to prevent rust and other damage.
