Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their reliability, affordability, and high – quality performance. To ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Inspect the Machine
Before starting the lawn mower, carefully examine it for any visible damage, such as cracks in the housing or loose parts. Check the blade to make sure it’s sharp and securely attached. A dull or loose blade can lead to uneven cuts and potential safety hazards.
Fuel and Oil Levels
Verify that there is enough fuel in the tank. For gasoline – powered mowers, use fresh, clean fuel. Also, check the oil level. Low oil can cause engine overheating and damage. If needed, refill the fuel and oil according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Operation
Mowing Height Adjustment
Set the appropriate mowing height based on the type of grass and its growth stage. Generally, it’s better not to cut more than one – third of the grass blade at a time. This helps maintain the health of the grass and reduces stress on the lawn.
Mowing Pattern
Change your mowing pattern regularly. Alternating between horizontal, vertical, and diagonal patterns prevents the grass from leaning in one direction and promotes more even growth. It also gives your lawn a neater appearance.
Post – operation Maintenance
Clean the Mower
After each use, clean the lawn mower to remove grass clippings, dirt, and debris. Pay special attention to the underside of the deck, as grass buildup can affect the mower’s performance. You can use a brush or a hose to clean it.
Store Properly
Store the lawn mower in a dry, protected place. If it’s going to be stored for an extended period, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to prevent fuel from deteriorating in the carburetor.
