Chinese-made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their quality and affordability. Here are some essential operating tips to ensure you get the most out of your machine.

Pre – operation Checks

Before starting your lawn mower, conduct a thorough inspection. Check the oil level; if it’s low, refill it with the recommended oil type. Examine the spark plug to ensure it’s in good condition. A faulty spark plug can lead to starting problems. Also, inspect the cutting blades. Dull blades can tear the grass instead of cutting it cleanly, resulting in a less healthy lawn. Sharpen or replace the blades as needed.

Starting the Mower

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for starting. For gasoline – powered mowers, prime the engine if required. Pull the starter cord steadily and smoothly. Electric mowers are simpler; just plug them in and press the start button. Avoid yanking the cord too hard, as it can damage the starting mechanism.

Mowing Techniques

Set the cutting height according to the type of grass and the season. In general, don’t cut more than one – third of the grass blade at a time. This helps maintain the health of the lawn. Mow in a pattern, such as parallel rows, to ensure even coverage. Overlapping slightly between rows can prevent missed patches.

Safety Precautions

Wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, ear protection, and sturdy shoes. Keep children and pets away from the mowing area. Be cautious of obstacles like rocks, toys, or tree roots, as they can damage the mower or cause the blade to kick up debris.

Post – operation Care

After mowing, turn off the mower and let it cool down. Empty the grass catcher if you’re using one. Clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can affect the mower’s performance. Store the mower in a dry place, and if it’s a gasoline – powered mower, consider draining the fuel if it will be stored for an extended period.
