Introduction
Chinese-made lawn mowers have gained popularity worldwide for their quality and affordability. To ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting your lawn mower, it’s crucial to conduct a few checks. First, examine the oil level. Just like a car, a lawn mower needs the right amount of oil for smooth operation. You can find the oil dipstick, usually near the engine, and check if the oil is at the appropriate level. If it’s low, add the recommended oil type.
Next, inspect the spark plug. A faulty spark plug can prevent the mower from starting. Look for any signs of wear or damage, and if necessary, replace it. Also, check the air filter. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance. Clean or replace it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
During Operation
When mowing, choose the right cutting height. Different grass types and seasons may require different cutting heights. For example, in summer, it’s better to keep the grass a bit longer to help it retain moisture. Avoid cutting more than one – third of the grass blade at a time, as this can stress the grass and make it more susceptible to diseases.
Push the lawn mower at a steady pace. Don’t rush, as this can lead to uneven cutting. Make sure to overlap your mowing paths slightly to ensure all areas are cut evenly.
Post – operation Maintenance
After mowing, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Then, clean the underside of the mower deck. Grass clippings can accumulate there, which can affect the mower’s performance over time. Use a brush or a hose to remove the clippings.
Finally, store the lawn mower in a dry place. If you won’t be using it for an extended period, consider draining the fuel to prevent it from deteriorating and causing problems in the future.
