Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their quality, efficiency, and affordability. Here are some essential operating tips to help you get the most out of your lawn mower.
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting the lawn mower, conduct a thorough inspection. Check the oil level, as insufficient oil can damage the engine. Also, examine the blade for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade ensures a clean cut and reduces the stress on the engine.
Starting the Lawn Mower
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully when starting the mower. For most Chinese – made lawn mowers, prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb a few times. Then, set the choke according to the temperature. In cold weather, use the full choke, and in warm weather, use a partial choke. Pull the starter cord firmly and steadily to start the engine.
Mowing Techniques
When mowing, walk at a steady pace. Avoid going too fast, as it may result in an uneven cut. Change the mowing direction regularly to prevent the grass from leaning in one direction. Adjust the cutting height based on the type of grass and its growth rate. For example, in spring, you may want to set a higher cutting height to promote healthy growth.
Post – operation Maintenance
After mowing, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Empty the grass catcher if your mower has one. Clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can affect the mower’s performance. Sharpen or replace the blade periodically to maintain optimal cutting performance.
