Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their quality, affordability, and performance. To make the most of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Fuel and Oil
Before starting the lawn mower, check the fuel level. Use clean and appropriate fuel. Also, check the oil level as insufficient oil can damage the engine. Refer to the user manual for the correct type of fuel and oil.
Blade Inspection
Inspect the blades for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade cuts grass cleanly and reduces stress on the engine. If the blade is dull, sharpen or replace it.
Deck and Wheels
Check the mower deck for any debris or blockages. Make sure the wheels are properly inflated and can move freely. This ensures smooth operation and even cutting.
Operating the Lawn Mower
Starting the Mower
Follow the starting instructions in the user manual. Usually, you need to set the choke, prime the engine (if required), and pull the starter cord. Once the engine starts, gradually adjust the choke.
Mowing Patterns
Use different mowing patterns each time you mow the lawn. This prevents soil compaction and encourages even growth of grass. You can alternate between horizontal, vertical, and diagonal patterns.
Speed and Overlap
Mow at a steady speed. Don’t rush as it may result in uneven cutting. Overlap each pass slightly to ensure no grass is missed.
Post – operation Care
Shutting Down
After mowing, let the engine run for a few minutes to cool down. Then, turn off the engine by moving the ignition switch to the “off” position.
Cleaning
Clean the mower deck, blades, and wheels to remove grass clippings and debris. This helps prevent rust and keeps the mower in good condition.
Storage
If you’re not going to use the lawn mower for a while, store it in a dry and protected place. Drain the fuel if it will be stored for an extended period.
