Chinese-made lawn mowers have gained popularity for their quality and affordability. Here are some useful operating tips:
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting your lawn mower, it’s crucial to conduct a thorough inspection. Check the oil level. If it’s low, add the appropriate type of oil as specified in the user manual. Also, examine the fuel tank to ensure there’s enough fuel. Inspect the blades for any signs of damage or dullness. Dull blades can make the mowing process less efficient and may damage the grass.
Starting the Mower
For electric lawn mowers, simply plug it in and switch it on. For gas – powered ones, set the choke according to the engine’s temperature. If the engine is cold, set the choke to the ‘closed’ position. After starting, gradually move the choke to the ‘open’ position as the engine warms up. Pull the starter cord smoothly and firmly.
Mowing Techniques
Mow in a straight line for a neat appearance. Vary your mowing direction each time you mow the lawn. This helps the grass grow upright and evenly. Adjust the cutting height based on the type of grass and its growth stage. Taller grass should be mowed gradually to avoid cutting too much at once.
Post – operation Maintenance
Once you’ve finished mowing, turn off the mower. Allow it to cool down. Clean the mower thoroughly, removing any grass clippings from the blades and the underside of the deck. If it’s a gas – powered mower, drain the remaining fuel if you’re not going to use it for an extended period.
