Introduction

Lawn mowers are essential tools for maintaining a beautiful and healthy lawn. However, proper operation is crucial to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity of the machine. Here are some valuable operating tips for your lawn mower.

Pre – operation Checks

1. Fuel and Oil Levels
Before starting your lawn mower, always check the fuel and oil levels. Insufficient fuel can cause the mower to stall during operation, while low oil levels can damage the engine. Use the recommended fuel and oil types for your specific mower model.

2. Blade Inspection
Examine the mower blade for any signs of damage, such as dullness, chips, or bends. A sharp blade cuts the grass cleanly, promoting better lawn health. Replace the blade if necessary.

3. Air Filter
A clogged air filter restricts airflow to the engine, reducing its performance. Clean or replace the air filter regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Operation Process

1. Mowing Pattern
Change your mowing pattern each time you mow the lawn. This helps prevent the grass from leaning in one direction and promotes more even growth. You can mow in straight lines, diagonal lines, or in a circular pattern.

2. Cutting Height
Adjust the cutting height of the mower according to the type of grass and the season. In general, it’s better to cut the grass no more than one – third of its height at a time. During hot summer months, leave the grass a bit longer to help it retain moisture.

3. Safety First
Wear appropriate safety gear, such as safety glasses, ear protection, and sturdy shoes. Remove any obstacles from the lawn before mowing, including stones, toys, and branches, to avoid damage to the mower and potential injury.

Post – operation Maintenance

1. Cleaning
After each use, clean the lawn mower thoroughly. Remove grass clippings from the deck, blades, and other parts. This helps prevent rust and corrosion and keeps the mower in good working condition.

2. Storage
Store the lawn mower in a dry and secure place. If you’re not going to use it for an extended period, drain the fuel and run the engine until it stops to prevent fuel from gumming up the carburetor.
