Pre – operation Checks

Before starting your lawn mower, it’s crucial to perform a series of checks. First, check the fuel level. Make sure there is enough fuel to complete the mowing task. Also, examine the oil level, as proper lubrication is essential for the engine’s smooth operation. Inspect the cutting blades for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade will result in a cleaner cut and healthier grass.

Mowing Techniques

When mowing, it’s advisable to mow in different directions each time. This helps prevent the grass from leaning in one direction and promotes more even growth. Don’t cut the grass too short. Generally, it’s best to keep at least two – thirds of the grass blade intact. This protects the grass roots and makes the lawn more resilient.

Safety Precautions

Wear appropriate safety gear such as safety glasses, closed – toe shoes, and ear protection. Remove any debris, like stones or sticks, from the lawn before mowing to avoid them being thrown by the mower and causing injury. Never mow in wet conditions as it can be slippery and may damage the lawn.

Maintenance After Use

After finishing mowing, clean the lawn mower thoroughly. Remove any grass clippings from the blades, deck, and undercarriage. Store the mower in a dry place to prevent rust and damage. Regularly change the air filter and spark plug according to the manufacturer’s instructions to keep the mower in good working condition.
