Introduction
Lawn mowers are essential tools for maintaining a beautiful lawn. However, to ensure optimal performance and safety, it’s crucial to operate them correctly. Here are some useful operating tips for lawn mowers.
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting your lawn mower, check the fuel level. Make sure there is enough fuel for the job. Also, inspect the oil level if it’s a gas – powered mower. Check the blades for any signs of damage or dullness. A sharp blade cuts grass more cleanly and reduces stress on the mower’s engine.
Safe Operation
When operating the mower, always wear appropriate safety gear, such as safety glasses, ear protection, and sturdy shoes. Clear the lawn of any debris, like rocks or toys, before mowing to prevent them from being thrown by the blades. Walk at a steady pace and avoid sudden turns or jerks.
Maintenance During Operation
If you notice that the grass is not being cut evenly, stop the mower and check the blades again. Sometimes, debris can get stuck under the deck and affect the cutting performance. Periodically clean the underside of the mower deck to keep it in good working condition.
Post – operation Care
After mowing, turn off the mower and let it cool down. Empty the grass catcher if your mower has one. Clean the entire mower, including the air filter if it’s a gas – powered model. Store the mower in a dry and secure place.
