Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers have gained popularity due to their high – quality and cost – effectiveness. Here are some useful operating tips to ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower.
Pre – operation Checks
Before starting your lawn mower, it’s crucial to conduct a few checks. First, check the oil level. Just like a car, a lawn mower needs proper lubrication. If the oil is low, refill it with the recommended oil type. Second, examine the blade. Make sure it’s sharp and free of any damage. A dull blade can tear the grass instead of cutting it cleanly, which may lead to a less healthy lawn.
Starting the Lawn Mower
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when starting the mower. For electric lawn mowers, simply plug it in and turn it on. For gas – powered ones, prime the engine if necessary, set the choke, and then pull the starter cord gently at first, followed by a strong pull to start the engine.
Mowing Techniques
When mowing, don’t cut the grass too short. A good rule of thumb is to never remove more than one – third of the grass blade at a time. This helps the grass stay healthy and reduces stress on the roots. Also, vary your mowing pattern each time. This prevents the grass from leaning in one direction and gives your lawn a more even look.
Post – operation Maintenance
After mowing, let the engine cool down before performing any maintenance. Clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass clippings from building up, which can affect the mower’s performance. If it’s a gas – powered mower, turn off the fuel valve and run the engine until it stops to use up the remaining fuel in the carburetor.
