Introduction
Chinese – made lawn mowers have gained popularity worldwide due to their high – quality and cost – effectiveness. To ensure you get the most out of your lawn mower, here are some essential operating tips.
Pre – operation Checks
Inspect the Blades
Before starting the lawn mower, check the blades for any signs of damage or dullness. Sharp blades cut grass cleanly, which is better for the health of your lawn. If the blades are dull, sharpen or replace them.
Check the Fuel and Oil
Make sure there is enough fuel in the tank. Also, check the oil level. For a 4 – stroke engine, low oil can cause engine damage. If the oil is dirty or low, change or refill it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Clear the Area
Remove any rocks, toys, or other debris from the lawn. These objects can damage the mower and may even be thrown out, posing a safety hazard.
Operation
Set the Right Cutting Height
Different grass types and seasons require different cutting heights. Generally, it’s better not to cut more than one – third of the grass blade length at a time. This promotes healthy grass growth.
Mow in Different Directions
Regularly change the mowing direction. This helps prevent the grass from leaning in one direction and gives a more even cut.
Post – operation Maintenance
Clean the Mower
After mowing, turn off the mower and let it cool down. Then, clean the underside of the deck to remove grass clippings and dirt. This prevents rust and keeps the mower running smoothly.
Store Properly
Store the lawn mower in a dry and protected place. If it won’t be used for an extended period, drain the fuel to prevent carburetor problems.
